Ivo Opstelten (Minister of Security and Justice) intends to withdraw the Partnerships Bill (setting out what was to become Title 7.13 of the Dutch Civil Code). He made this known yesterday in a letter to the upper chamber of the Dutch Parliament. According to the minister, the bill does not satisfy the primary purpose of the intended legislation: assisting entrepreneurs. He pointed out that there was little support on the part of the intended beneficiaries – small and mid-sized businesses – for the rules proposed under the bill. This is apparently due mainly to concerns about the costs that a change of system would entail.
