Professional services firm KPMG has again appointed a record number of new partners. The figure of 80 new appointees, whose new roles are effective from 1 October 2000, has easily exceeded the previous highest intake of 64 new partners, recorded in October 1999.

Of the new partners 24 are in Assurance, 20 in Financial Advisory Services, 17 in Consulting, 16 in Tax, two in support functions and one in KLegal, KPMG’s associated law firm. Eighteen of the new appointees are women. In October KPMG will have 687 UK partners, up from 665 one year previously. In the year to September 1999 the firm recorded an increase in fee income of 20 per cent to £1,038m, and an increase in fees per partner of 14 per cent to £1.68m.

Senior UK partner Mike Rake said: "Continued strong demand for our services in 1999/2000, combined with the exceptional quality of our people, have produced this record increase in partner numbers. Our track record speaks for itself. We will continue to offer exceptional career opportunities for our people."
