Czech regulator CTU imposed a fine of CZK 4,5 million (approx. EUR 166,500) on the operator O2 Czech Republic for unfair business practices in connection with the activation of an automatic renewal service for data packages and its failure to inform end-users about their right to terminate their contracts at the effective date of the contract's change. The CTU also imposed obligations on the operator to change its contracts with all customers who use mobile data services; within 60 days from the date of CTU's decision O2 must remove all clauses in its end-user contracts under which the operator is entitled to automatically renew the data package without the express and active order of the end-user and to charge a fee for it.
