Key Points?

  • The government of Spain introduced new COVID-19 related entrance measures for travelers from countries and regions located outside of the European Union

Overview?

The government of Spain announced that travelers from countries and regions located outside of the European Union (EU) will be permitted to enter Spain so long as they can provide proof of certain COVID-19 documents effective 21 May 2022. These travelers will need to provide proof of a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate, proof of a negative COVID-19 test result or proof of having recovered from COVID-19 within the past 11-180 days. Approved COVID-19 tests include a PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure or a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of departure.

What are the Changes?

The government of Spain introduced new COVID-19-related entrance measures for travelers located outside of the EU. In relation to pandemic protocols, these travelers will be permitted to enter Spain, regardless of their reason for travel, so long as they can provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, proof of recovery or proof of a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate. This change will mean that travelers from outside of the EU will be subject to the same entrance requirements as travelers from an EU member state.
