Singapore – September 25, 2020 – Cooley advised Mobile Premier League, Asia's largest esports and mobile gaming platform, on its US$90 million Series C financing round. SIG, RTP Global MDI Ventures and Pegasus Tech led the round. Existing investors Sequoia Capital, Go-Ventures and Base Partners also participated in the financing. Ferish Patel, partner in charge of Cooley's Singapore office, led the team advising MPL on the round.

The new capital will be used to further accelerate MPL's leading position in the gaming market and expand its product offering. The funding also will be used toward product development, with a focus on social functions, such as live streaming, and audio and video content features.

“This latest round of funding will enable us to entertain and connect an even larger audience across India and beyond,” Sai Srinivas, MPL co-founder and CEO, said in a news release. “Being able to bring quality technology, competitive spirit and enjoyment to people in such an accessible way is what keeps us excited. The online gaming industry is seeing huge and increasing engagement; with this fresh capital injection being proof of MPL's potential to lead and transform this space.”

Since its founding two years ago, MPL has added 70+ games on its platform, working with more than 28 game developers and studios, and a user base numbering well over 60 million.
