As we reported in January, YouTube announced changes to its content creator revenue sharing program, and the process that determines which channels can run ads on YouTube.
This move is apparently having a significant effect on the number of content creators who can monetize on the platform, as many channels within YouTube networks fall below the new required threshold of 1,000 subscribers and at least 4,000 hours of viewing time in a one-year period.
According to Digiday, YouTube network operators are even having to release creators with demonetized channels from their contracts.
