Christina Zhang and James Lu have been named A-List lawyers by China Business Law, which features 200 elite lawyers for China-related practice, including 100 lawyers working in PRC firms and 100 in foreign firms.

James Lu is a co-founder of Cooley's Shanghai office and the head of its corporate practice, focusing on Asia-related corporate and securities transactions including foreign direct investment, venture capital financing, private equity investment, M&A and public offerings. Lu also has broad experience advising clients on complex cross-border commercial transactions involving unique structures and contractual arrangements designed to comply with legal requirements in multiple jurisdictions, including licensing, joint venture, manufacturing and distribution arrangements in the life sciences and high-tech industries in Asia. Lu is a frequent speaker at local and international conferences, and has spoken extensively on topics relating to Asia's venture capital and capital market environment.

Christina Zhang is partner and chief representative of Cooley's Shanghai office. She has more than 20 years of practice experience gained through private practice and in–house experience in the US and China. Zhang represents clients in cross-border transactions, especially in life sciences and high-tech industries, and other industrial sectors. She has represented clients in their financings, licensing and partnership transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures, distribution and marketing activities in China. She has also represented Chinese investment funds and companies in their investments, financings and acquisitions overseas.
