. . . we recorded our webinar on CA's new employment laws.

Although the pandemic led to a slowdown for many, not so for the California legislature.

During the 2019-2020 session, the legislature advanced hundreds of bills, many of which affect employers. Some of the noteworthy developments have already been covered on this blog, here and here.

Earlier this week, we presented a live webinar discussing these new laws, some of which took effect as soon as they were signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). Here's a link to the recording. After you log in, click on "Event Resources" to find the application form for HRCI/SHRM credit, and a copy of the presentation slides.

And an update . . .

In the webinar, we discussed AB 1947, which lengthens the statute of limitations for filing a Labor Commission complaint. AB 1947 also amends the whistleblower statute (Labor Code Section 1102.5)  in an unprecedented way: the statute now authorizes an award of attorneys' fees "to a plaintiff who brings a successful action for a violation of [Section 1102.5]."

Are we having fun yet?
