San Diego Partner David B. Monks recently spoke with Capital Public Radio regarding California Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5) and its potential impact on the state’s healthcare workforce. The bill would codify the Dynamex ABC Test into state law, and some health professionals are taking issue with the bill. As the legislature works on adding exemptions to the bills, some professionals want to be exempt, which, according to David, is because it provides flexibility “to deliver the best patient accessibility and care as possible.” However, David explains that it will be a challenge to satisfy all the groups asking for exemptions, since there are a wide variety of employees in the industry.
