Remember the good old days when you knew the minimum wage off the top of your head?! Even for us employment attorneys, those days are gone (or maybe I'm just getting old). Now, even finding the proper minimum wage on the internet has gotten complicated, with different requirements in different cities scattered throughout the state!

To date, employers in Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, Long Beach, Los Angeles City and Unincorporated Los Angeles County, Mountain View, Oakland, Palo Alto, Pasadena, Richmond, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Clara, Santa Monica and Sunnyvale have some form of a wage ordinance they need to be up to speed on. The UC Berkeley Labor Center is keeping tabs on these changes for your reference.

On July 1st, the following changes will take effect, so consider this a reminder and make sure your payroll partners are ready:

El Cerrito: $11.60 per hour

Emeryville: $13.00 per hour (55 or fewer employees)
$14.82 per hour (56 or more employees)

LA City: $10.50 per hour (26 or more employees)
$15.37 per hour (Hotel Ordinance)

LA County (unincorporated areas): $10.50 per hour (26 or more employees)

Pasadena: $10.50 per hour

San Francisco: $13.00 per hour

Santa Monica: $10.50 per hour (26 or more employees)
$13.25 per hour (Hotel Employees)

Sunnyvale: $11.00 per hour

I know we just celebrated Memorial Day, but July 4th will be here before we know it.
