Partner and co-chair of the Media + Entertainment Group James Sammataro and counsel Brendan Everman represented Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Erika Ender, and Universal Music Group in a copyright suit that alleged infringement in the 2017 song "Despacito." On August 6th, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams dismissed the case noting "the works are only similar as to unprotectable elements and share no commonality at the level of protectable expression."
