Over the weekend of 7/8 January 2012, the Court of Protection will be moving from its current location in Archway to the Thomas More Building, Royal Courts of Justice.

Court of Protection orders often include a direction that parties attend before hearings to allow time for negotiations. The new location should provide better facilities for those confidential negotiations.

Our outdoor clerk will also be able to deal with listing and filing matters in person. Archway was a lot less practical!

Meanwhile, the introduction of new Court of Protection Rules from 12 December 2011 and a change in HM Revenue and Customs' practice about compliance (to be introduced in the Finance Bill 2012) will both have implications for those involved in advising older people, their families and carers.

Our Elder Law team has produced a Stop Press to brief you on these developments. Click here to access the Stop Press.
