Orrick's London office joined the Coalition for a Digital Economy (COADEC) in launching a new report on the effects of a projected skills shortfall on the UK technology industry following the pending departure of the UK from the European Union (or Brexit).

COADEC provides government relations and policy support to a UK-wide coalition of technology companies. Its report, A Global Britain: From Local Startups to International Markets, projects a shortfall of at least 800,000 qualified people in technology by 2020 if the UK government does not create a new high-skilled visa for overseas tech workers and reverse funding cuts that impact science, technology, engineering and mathematics (or STEM) education and training in the UK. The report also looks at ways the government can support the needed growth and scale of technology companies.

Orrick sponsored COADEC's report launch event at the Houses of Parliament in February, which featured digital economy minister Matt Hancock and MP David Jones, minister of the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU). London partners Douglas Lahnborg, Shawn Atkinson and Ylan Steiner also attended the event.
