Lastly 6 April 2010 marked the commencement of the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) (Amendment) Order 2010. This amendment order inserts a new Class C4 Houses in multiple occupation which is the use of a dwelling house by not more that six residents as a house in multiple occupation, and makes consequential amendments to Class C3. It also confirms that Class C2A Secure residential institutions which is the use for the provision of secure residential accommodation, including use as a prison, young offenders institution, detention centre, secure training centre, custody centre, short term holding centre, secure hospital, secure local authority accommodation or use as military barracks, is not confined to Crown land.
