There has been a substantial increase in the official fees for publication in respect of registration and renewal of trademarks and industrial designs in Syria. This is by virtue of issuance of the recent Syrian Government Ministerial Resolution No. 2953 issued on 14th December 2009. The publication fee has been increased by around 100%. As an illustration, the official fees for publication of a trademark have increased from US$67 to US$134 covering 1-10 items of specification of goods and US$72 to US$138 covering 1-20 items of goods.

The new rates are applicable as of 1st January 2010. In regards to applications which are currently pending for publication, the new official fee will apply to them. The increase only applies to publication fees. The fees for filing and registration of trademarks and designs remain the same.
