An overview by The American Lawyer of the financial performance of the largest Missouri-founded law firms points to Thompson Coburn among those that made “notable gains” in 2023, with revenue growth of more than 5%.
The article also noted TC made significant gains in other metrics such as average profit per equity partner and revenue per lawyer, while marking its third consecutive year of revenue growth. Chair-elect Chris Hohn said areas of increased demand included energy, tax credits, health care and litigation.
“A lot of the trials that had been put off during the pandemic are now coming to fruition and are set for trial … across all litigation practices,” he said.
He also described a strong start to the year for 2024, with the addition of multiple new partners and an office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Overall, the publication noted, among the nine Am Law 200 firms from Missouri, the majority saw gains in revenue per lawyer and average profits per equity partner. “Going forward, these law firms are bullish on expansion, with eyes set on markets throughout the Southeast or West Coast.”
