During an interview on CTV News, HSH's Co-Managing Partner Paul Miller, representing his client Johnny Stavrou, discusses the terrible after-effects of this alleged abuse and more regarding this case.

Paul Miller, said the claims outlined in the lawsuit would constitute a "complete failure" on the part of the province to protect its most vulnerable. "If the allegations are proven true, the abuse is horrific and the damage is staggering,"

A statement of claim filed alleges that Johnathan Stavrou endured persistent physical, psychological, and sexual abuse from multiple legal guardians following his removal from his biological parents' care at the age of six.

Additionally, it is claimed that he was unjustly placed in youth detention centers on two occasions without adequate justification. During his time there, he faced "cruel and unusual" punishment, which included instances of physical restraint.

Johnny says "the trauma I sustained happened under the care of state agents who have a mandate to keep children safe and I was just never safe,"

Within his professional and personal life, Stavrou has suffered severe episodes of mental health breakdowns, arising from his treatment while under provincial care, the lawsuit outlines. "He has struggled to maintain employment and relationships with colleagues, authority figures, friends and family,"Full CTV article here
