Pursuant to Regulation No. 5 of 2019 which has been accepted by His Majesty King Abdullah II, there are modifications which pertain to patent filing and prosecution.

One of the amendments which were outlined in the new regulation is that any third party may review the patent files, if the same has been published.

Another significant change as per the new regulation is that the annuity fees of the patent application will be due for payment at the time of filing the application, which was previously not due until the grant of the patent.

The new regulation has been published in the Official Gazette.
