Following the extension of the deadline for the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, the Luxembourg Financial Sector Supervisory Authority (CSSF) pointed out that the Brexit reference date in its previous communications is now to be read as 31 January 2020.

With respect to press releases 19/33 and 19/34 (please view our briefing here) impacted entities (UK firms/UCIs and/or managers) should note however that the mandatory notifications required to be made in order to continue providing services in Luxembourg under the transitional regime must be done via the dedicated eDesk portal at the earliest possible date, and any application for authorisation/notification (please view our previous briefings here and here) must be made no later than 15 January 2020.

The CSSF has also advised that, notwithstanding the current political environment, impacted firms take all necessary steps to prepare for a hard Brexit.
