On 15 July 2013, Myanmar formally acceded to the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (the "New York Convention"). However, as outlined in our previous legal update on Myanmar's decision to accede to the New York Convention, domestic legislation will now be required to implement the provisions of the New York Convention. Although our understanding is that a draft arbitration law is under consideration, the timetable for implementation remains unclear. We will of course keep you updated of any further developments.
