Overview
The government of Singapore announced adjusted border measures and extensions to the Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTLs) beginning Oct. 19, 2021. Citizens of Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, and the U.S. will be able to travel using the VTLs beginning Oct. 19, 2021. Travelers from these countries will no longer be required to quarantine upon arrival in Singapore. Applications to travel using the CTLs will open Oct. 12, 2021.
The government of Singapore has also updated the current safeguards on the VTLs. VTL travelers will be required to present verifiable and authenticated digital proof of vaccination, as a precondition for entry. The EU Digital COVID Vaccination Certificate and the Republic of Korea's digital vaccination certificate have been approved by the government of Singapore as proof of vaccination. U.S. and Canadian citizens will be required to present a digital vaccination certificate issued in the smart health card format on the common trust network.
What are the Changes?
Testing requirements for travelers using VTLs will be lowered so that only two tests will be required for VTL travelers. After Nov. 19, 2021, travelers will only be required to present a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 48 hours before departure to Singapore and undergo an on-arrival PCR test upon arriving in Singapore.
Looking Ahead
Applications of the Republic of Korea (ROK) will open on Nov. 8, 2021. Approved travelers from the ROK will then be able to enter Singapore on a VTL beginning Nov. 15, 2021.
