The issuance of a Norwich Pharmacal Order for the disclosure of
documents and information, is an important tool in the hands of
litigants because it permits a claimant to obtain information and
documents to plead and prove his case, to identify the wrongdoers,
to discover and preserve any significant evidence that is
relevant to the case as well as to trace and preserve stolen
assets. Such orders can also be made against a third party who has
been innocently or not involved in wrongdoing.
Recently the Cyprus Courts have expanded the notion of Norwich
Pharmacal Orders to include electronic disclosures against the
wrongdoers, in particular the inspection of a database and the
computer system by an independent expert in order to protect the
interests of disclosing parties.
