With a total of US$7,376.6 million, the Panama Stock Exchange
(BVP, as per its initials in Spanish) broke the historic record of
negotiations registered in 2012, with a 10.6% increase, and a 41%
compared to 2015.
It is also important to note the changes to the Stock Market Law
that were made in 2016, which incorporate two new figures, the
Central Counterparty and the Infrastructure Providers. Both figures
are relevant for the stock market development and for strengthening
the Systems for Compensation and Liquidation of stocks and
financial instruments. Through Law 66 of December 9, 2016 the
Single Text of the Stock Market Law was reformed, incorporating the
aforementioned entities.
