ICANN has published the list of new gTLDs that organisations have requested during the recent gTLD application period.
The gTLD program allowed organisations to apply for new gTLDs that do not use the existing extensions such as .com or .au. A total of 1,930 new gTLD applications were received, and can be viewed at http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/program-status/application-results/strings-1200utc-13jun12-en.
Comments on the applied-for gTLDS may be submitted through the ICANN website until 12 August 2012, and will be forwarded to the panels reviewing the applications. Such comments are not considered formal objections and will not in themselves block an application.
Formal objections to specific applications, for example if use of the gTLD would infringe a trade mark or breach other legal rights, must be lodged through a selected dispute resolution provider. Formal objections may be made until the end of this year.
