PHILADELPHIA - August 27, 2021 - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is proud to provide pro bono services to Homecoming 250, a non-profit organized to hold the celebration of the 250th anniversaries of the founding of the U.S. Navy and the Marine Corps in Philadelphia in the fall of 2025. The Navy and Marines were created in Independence Hall, organized at Tun Tavern, and launched their first ship and amphibious mission on the Delaware River.

A cross-section team of Buchanan's attorneys and government relations professionals worked on various components with the Foundation to help mark this momentous occasion.

Andrew Giorgione, shareholder in the State Government Relations group, serves on the Homecoming 250 Committee as well as the Tun Tavern and fundraising task forces. He assisted with the drafting and passage of a Resolution in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives calling for the celebration to be held in Philadelphia in 2025. A similar Resolution is pending in the Senate with 30 co-sponsors and will be considered in the fall of 2021.  He also prepared strategic cooperation agreements for Homecoming 250 with entities working on the United States Semiquincentennial celebration in 2026.

Craig Mills, executive shareholder in Litigation and a Marine Corps veteran, provided litigation risk management and strategic advice to the Foundation, primarily regarding trademark matters related to the Navy and the Marine Corps as well as Tun Tavern. He also was instrumental in reaching out to a number of other Marine Corps veterans who have agreed to join the Foundation and support the efforts surrounding this celebration.
