PHOENIX (December 18, 2020) – Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie announced corporate attorney, Stephen Richer, has been elected as the next Maricopa County Recorder and will serve a four-year term. The Recorder's Office is comprised of 150 employees and is responsible for voter registration and, together with the county's board of supervisors, administers the county's elections. The county is the second largest voting jurisdiction in the United States, with 2.5 million registered voters, making up 62% of Arizona's voters. The Recorder's Office also oversees the recording and tracking of, and providing public access to, documents such as deeds and property maps. Maricopa County Recorder is Richer's first elected position.

As a member of the firm's Business Transactions Practice Group, Richer focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, contracts and new technologies. He works with a wide range of companies from private equity firms to agriculture companies and SaaS technologies.

Prior to his legal career, Richer worked in business management and public policy. He received a J.D. and M.A. from The University of Chicago. He received his B.A. from Tulane University.
