LOS ANGELES (November 11, 2020) – Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP announced Dustin M. Luettgen has joined the firm's Los Angeles office as an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Luettgen is a registered patent attorney with a background in chemical engineering and bioengineering applications. He assists a wide variety of clients with patent preparation and prosecution, trademark preparation and prosecution and counsels clients in the best uses of intellectual property law to support their business goals. In addition to patent preparation and prosecution for clients with inventions in the chemical arts, he also assists clients with obtaining patent protection for inventions in electrical and mechanical arts, as well as clients seeking design patents. Luettgen also handles matters related to copyright and trade secret law, §101 issues related to subject matter eligibility, IP litigation, software as a service (SaaS) and licensing agreements, and information privacy issues, including those related to the CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act). He helps clients develop and execute comprehensive IP strategies encompassing all IP protection options available to protect their businesses and products.

Before attending law school, Luettgen served in various roles which have provided him with a diverse range of legal and technical experience. His technical areas of knowledge include: organic chemistry, physical chemistry, biology, chemical engineering systems analysis, process dynamics and control, transport phenomena, chemical engineering design, bioengineering applications and tissue engineering. Luettgen received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College and his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of New Mexico.
