At long last, the SEC has adopted new, extensive disclosure rules on climate change. Join Proskauer and Modern West Advisory, a leading North American ESG and climate advisory firm, for an introduction to the new requirements (including amendments to the original proposal), the timing of their effectiveness, and how they mesh with the new climate change requirements in California and the EU. While the SEC has voluntarily stayed its new rules pending the outcome of litigation, we believe that the agency is navigating to resolve the litigation a reasonable time before the rules become effective, so that the rules can stay on schedule. Pending further developments, we recommend that companies continue to prepare for the new disclosures.
