16 May 2024 Webinar: Washington United States

On April 23, 2024, the FTC voted to adopt a final rule that, when it becomes effective, will ban most existing and future non-compete agreements with employees and independent contractors. The FTC Non-Compete Rule is just the latest of many efforts in national forums and state legislatures to restrict post-employment restrictive covenants.

During this webinar, our panelists will examine the final FTC Non-Compete Rule, pending challenges that may delay or thwart enforcement of the Rule, and other recent developments in state and federal law that impact restrictive covenants. We will also discuss practical considerations for employers when assessing their current restrictive covenant agreements, deciding whether to enter into new restrictive covenants in the future, and evaluating the enforceability of restrictive covenants between new employees and their former employers.

23 May 2024 Webinar: Brussels Belgium

In collaboration with the IBJ

On February 1st this year, Book 6 of the new Belgian Civil Code was approved. It updates the legislative framework on tort liability. This change is part of a bigger effort to modernize the Belgian Civil Code for the 21st century. It aims to codify existing rules and jurisprudence and adds innovation where deemed necessary.

The updates among others cover the co-existence of contractual and extra-contractual liabilities and the liability of auxiliary agents. Although Book 6 will enter into force on the 1st of January 2025, the new rules could as from then have an impact on already existing contracts.

This webinar will explore some of the changes, including:

  • General introduction of Book 6
  • Co-existence of contractual and extra-contractual liabilities
  • Liability of auxiliary agents and its practical consequences
  • Possible impact on director’s liability
  • Impact on the employment relationship

11 Jun 2024 Seminar: San Francisco United States

Join us for our West Coast Government Contracts Seminar. For your convenience, we are pleased to offer this seminar on two separate occasions—on June 11th in Crowell’s San Francisco office, and on June 12th at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara. We hope that you can make one (or both) of these events.

The U.S. Government is investing more money than ever in new and emerging technologies, through R&D and procurement contracts, Other Transactions, and federal grant funding. While there are significant opportunities to leverage federal funding for growth and to build out the public sector market, these opportunities come with unique regulatory considerations and requirements. Our experienced practitioners will discuss key areas to understand when you are considering the federal marketplace, including intellectual property, national security reviews by CFIUS and mitigation of FOCI, export controls considerations, and more.
