Our Mauritius office has shown support for the crucial work of the 'Association Pour l'Education Des Enfants Défavorisés' (APEDED) (Association for the Education of Underprivileged Children) with a donation of Rs 120,000 (approx. £2,300).

This NGO is known for its longstanding commitment to improve the access to education for underprivileged children in different regions, including the island of Rodrigues. Over for the past 24 years, APEDED has been pursuing laudable objectives which are in line with Ocorian' values and social endeavours. A ceremony was held at the company's head office in Ebène on Thursday, 10 December 2020.

Managing Director of our Mauritius office, Robert Hovenier said: "Ocorian is proud to support APEDED this year. APEDED is a long established and well-regarded NGO which does everything in its power to help children who come from poor backgrounds by providing them with the tools to support their learning. Ultimately, APEDED's support will help equip these children and empower them for a better future."

The donation will support the NGO in its various projects geared towards the fight against illiteracy by assisting children throughout their educational path. A number of support programmes have been created by the organisation for children in pre-primary and primary schools, such as providing school supplies, medical follow-up, extra-curricular activities, among others.
