On December 21, Presidential Decree No. 1033/2020 (the Decree) was published in the Official Gazette extending social distancing measures (known locally as "Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing" or DISPO) throughout the entire country from February 1, 2021 until February 28, 2021.

  • The use of public transportation throughout the country is authorized only for essential workers (defined locally as "individuals engaged in an essential activity"); individuals undergoing medical treatment and their caretakers; staff and students attending in-person classes.
  • People with confirmed COVID-19 results and/or suspected of having COVID-19 will not be allowed to circulate throughout the country.
  • People over the age of 60, pregnant women, and those in so-called risk groups continue to be exempted from their duty to attend the workplace in person. If they do not work from their homes, they will receive a non-remunerative compensation equivalent to their usual wage, net of contributions to the Social Security System.
